About this experience

ABOUT THE CLASSS

Fall is a magical time in Sicily: grapes and olives are ready for harvest and hearty vegetables like wild greens, broccoli and squash are in season. Citrus trees (orange, lemon, kumquat, citron, grapefruit) are beginning to bloom and locals are busily preserving veggies and herbs from the garden in preparation for the winter months.

Tonight's class is the Fall edition of our Sicilian cooking series, featuring a delicious sampling of seasonal dishes, using fresh Ontario produce whenever possible. And of course, we'll enjoy some great Sicilian wines that pair perfectly with the meal.

Led by our chef, we'll prepare a multi course meal together before sitting down to enjoy  the fruits of our labour!

ABOUT SICILY

Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean, and thanks to its complex history boasts one of the richest and most diverse cuisines in all of the region.

Originally settled by the Greeks in the BC era, Sicily was under Arab rule from the ninth to eleventh centuries, and over the years since has taken many culinary influences from the Normans, Spanish, North Africans, and the island's own substantial Jewish population.

The resulting fusion of spices, fresh produce and seafood, cooking techniques like "agrodolce" - and some of the best street foods in Italy - make Sicilian cooking truly unique!
