November may be harvest time for Tuscan olive oil, but by the time it's bottled, labeled, shipped and (always fun!) cleared through customs ... it's not until February that the fresh olive oil from Gaia's farm finally arrives in Toronto. So now is the best time of year to host an olive oil tasting!

Tonight's event is two things in one: a guided olive oil tasting by our in-house olive oil producer Gaia Massai; and a simple cooking class where you'll learn delcious ways the olive oil is used in Tuscan cooking.

ABOUT THE OLIVE OIL TASTING

During the structured tasting part of the evening you will sample a selection of oils, and learn:

• How extra virgin olive oil is made
• The taste profile of olive oil
• How the taste differs between varietals, and changes over time
• Health benefits and storage advice
• What to look for when tasting and purchasing olive oil

After the tasting, we will prepare a simple three-course meal together, made up of dishes that show the best ways to enjoy extra virgin olive oil:

Pinzimonio - Crudite with extra virgin olive oil

Cavolo brasato - Braised Savoy cabbage

Patate ghiotta - Tuscan style mini roasted potatoes

Torta all'olio d'olive - Orange and rosemary olive oil cake

We also offer corkage, the fee is $15 per bottle.
