Italian Language & Cooking Event: Parla Come Mangi! – SOLD OUT

March 5 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Cucinato is excited to launch a fun new series of Italian cooking and language events, cohosted with Italian language school ScuolaScuola!

The idea of Parla Come Mangi is to give adult Italian language-learners a fun opportunity to cook and converse with great chefs and food experts while practicing Italian language skills with fellow students and native Italian hosts from Cucinato and ScuolaScuola.

Since our first event takes place in early March, during the week of International’s Women’s Day, La Festa Della Donna will be tonight’s theme!

The evening will be co-hosted by two native-Italian female entrepreneurs: Tuscan olive oil and wine producer (and Cucinato partner) Gaia Massai, and ScuolaScuola founder/director Valentina Cioccari. Gaia will talk about her work in an industry historically dominated by men, while Valentina will provides some context about Women’s Day in Italy, past and present.

During the event, chef Cosimo Ieraci will prepare a typical Tuscan meal, finishing dishes with Gaia’s olive oil, and guests are welcome to put on an apron and help him cook.

Throughout the evening wines from Gaia’s farm will available for purchase by the glass or bottle. When the meal is ready, we’ll all sit down together at a long harvest table to enjoy the meal.

Gaia is a wine and olive oil producer, lecturer and event host. She imports her family’s olive oil through her company Gaia’s Plate and is a partner at Cucinato, where she hosts lectures, dinners and cooking classes. Most of all, she’s a passionate educator who brings together the historic, cultural and scientific aspects of Italian food to put it in its true perspective

Born and raised in Rome, Valentina is passionate about the ways cultural norms, expectations and context affect how we use language. With a Masters in Language Studies and Audiovisual Translation, she moved to Toronto in 2008. Since then, she’s developed curricula and taught for private schools, schools of continuing education, and multinational companies in Travel, Food & Wine. She founded ScuolaScuola in 2015 to offer a personalized learning experience combining face-to-face and online instruction, respecting individual learning styles and personal pace.
