Carnevale is one of Italy best loved – and decadent! – winter festivals in Italy.

All over the peninsula there are celebrations this time of year, as people brace for the looming austerity of the Lent season with lavish feasts filled with hearty meat dishes and sumptuous sweets.

In this hands-on class, hosted by the talented Anna Sottile, you’ll learn to make some of the most popular Carnevale sweets, and take a batch with you to enjoy at home with friends and family!

Recipes We’ll Make

Chiacchiere – probably the most famous dolce di carnevale is this crisp, airy convection known by different names in various regions of Italy (frappe, bugie, cenci, crostoli). Tonight we’ll make the traditional fried version, highly dusted with icing sugar.

Bigne (baked version) – Italian “cream puffs” or “profiteroles”, filled with custard. Though they are often fried, we’ll be making a lighter, baked bigne this evening.

Ravioli Dolci con ricotta – simple but delicious, these baked sweet ravioli are stuffed with a right ricotta filling

Food & Drinks During the Class
  • A light, buffet style meal will be served during the class
  • Wine will be available for sale by the glass. Or you can bring your own – $15 corkage fee applies
